The Zurmaiener street is a street in Trier in the district of North . It runs between Georg-Schmitt-Platz and the distribution circle at Nells Park, making it one of the longest streets in Trier. In the southern part, it split from the 1980s into (Alte) Zurmaiener Strasse and Neue Zurmaiener Strasse ; The latter was supposed to relieve the Zurmaiener Straße as a new bypass road, when the road now served as a feeder to the A602 . The Neue Zurmaiener Straße has now been named at least in sections after Trier's twin town Ascoli Piceno .

The name of Zurmaiener Strasse is derived from the Zurmaien district , whose name originated from the Latin ad sanctum Remigium and was later Germanized as zu Remeien .

There are several cultural monuments in the street , including the so-called House of Excellence . The listed Zurlaubener Ufer is also in close proximity to the street .

The street is also an important commercial street. Among other things, there is a branch of the Ratio chain and a Burger King restaurant here. The Trier Youth Hostel is also located in the street .
