Zvuchnyy Island ( English ; Russian Остров Звучный Ostrow Swutschny , German ' Klangvolle Insel' ) is an island off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . In the Vestfoldberg area, it is located immediately northwest of Partizan Island in the western section of the Langnes Fjord .
Norwegian cartographers mapped them in 1946 using aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen Expedition in 1936/37 . Further aerial photographs were taken during the US operation Highjump (1946–1947), in 1956 during a Soviet Antarctic expedition and in 1957 and 1958 as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . Russian scientists named them. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia translated this name into English in 1973.
