Taxonomy

The two-color bank rocker was named after the Argentine ornithologist Claës Christian Olrog (1912–1985). It was first described in 1979. Some scientists initially thought it was a subspecies of the gray-flanked wipper ( Cinclodes oustaleti ), while others saw it as a subspecies of the short-beaked wipper ( Cinclodes fuscus ). In 1990 it was classified as a separate species.
