The federal highway  117 (abbreviation: BAB 117 ) - short form: Autobahn 117 (abbreviation: A 117 ), also called the feeder Treptow - is a federal trunk road in the southeast of the federal capital Berlin , which connects the federal highway 96a with the federal highway 113 .

description

The motorway was opened on October 6, 1962 in the GDR as a connection between the Treptow triangle and the Schönefeld motorway junction . After German reunification , the entire route became the A 113. In 1992, extensive re-planning began. At the new Waltersdorfer Dreieck to be built , a route to Neukölln was planned in order to better connect southeast Berlin on both sides of the former course of the Wall to the motorway network of the surrounding area. This route should become the new route of the A 113.

With the opening of the section of the A 113 between the Waltersdorfer Dreieck and the Adlershof junction on May 23, 2008, the gap between the northern and southern sections of the A 113 was closed. For the previous section between the Treptow triangle and the Waltersdorfer Dreieck, the designation A 117 was newly assigned. By renumbering the junction was Berlin-Grünau in Waltersdorf renamed, which is integrated into the triangle Waltersdorf. To the south of this junction, the road follows a new route to the Waltersdorfer Dreieck, which is west of the Waltersdorf cemetery. The old route separated the town of Waltersdorf from its cemetery.

At the same time, the stretch of federal highway 179 between Waltersdorf and the Königs Wusterhausen junction on the A 10 was downgraded to highway 400.

The Waltersdorfer Dreieck is a hybrid of a motorway triangle and a motorway fork . Coming from the A 117 it is possible to turn onto the A 113 towards Dreieck Neukölln and Berlin city center . However, if you drive on the A 113 in the direction of the Schönefeld interchange , you cannot turn onto the A 117.

Between the Treptow triangle and the Waldeck petrol station, the A 117 has only two lanes for around one kilometer in each direction. There the autobahn bridges the rail connection between Berlin Brandenburg Airport and the Görlitzer Bahn . It is planned to build a new junction (AS Hubertus) south of the state border between Berlin and Brandenburg at kilometer 2.351 and, in this context, to make the A 117 passable again with four lanes. Since there was no agreement between the federal government and the state on the projected costs of around 15 million euros, the Schönefeld community decided in February 2017 to finance the construction itself. Completion is not expected before 2022.
