The previously planned federal motorway 263 (abbreviation: BAB 263 ) - short form: Autobahn 263 (abbreviation: A 263 ) - should come from the Schwarzenbek / Grande interchange with the BAB 24 south of Bad Oldesloe east of the city of Geesthacht (here with a connection to the BAB 25 ) pass by crossing the Elbe to the north of Egestorf on the BAB 250 . This route is now largely followed by the federal highway 404 . The Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2003 envisages an expansion of the route and an upgrade as the southern part of the BAB 21 in further need with a high ecological risk.
Should the traffic project be realized, the future BAB 39 would connect to the southern part and thus enable a connection from Salzgitter to Kiel . With the eastern crossing of the Elbe, transit traffic could also bypass Hamburg.
