Creys-Mépieu is about 51 kilometers east of Lyon on the Rhone , which forms the eastern municipal border. Creys-Mépieu is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Briord in the north, Lhuis in the east, Saint-Victor-de-Morestel in the south and south-east, Arandon in the south and south-west, Courtenay in the west and Bouvesse-Quirieu in the north-west.

The Superphénix nuclear facility is located in the municipality .

history

In 1989 the municipalities of Creys-et-Piusignieu and Mépieu were merged.
