Montferrat is a French commune with 1,786 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Montferrat belongs to the Arrondissement of La Tour-du-Pin and the canton of Le Grand-Lemps (until 2015: canton of Saint-Geoire-en-Valdaine ). The inhabitants are called Montfrinaud (e) s .

geography

Montferrat is about 70 kilometers southeast of Lyon . The Bièvre rises in the municipality ; in the southwestern part of the municipality is the Lac de Paladru . Montferrat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Abrets en Dauphiné in the north, Velanne in the northeast, Saint-Sulpice-des-Rivoires in the east, Bilieu in the south and southwest and Paladru in the west.
