Montagnieu is about 60 kilometers southeast of Lyon . Montagnieu is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sainte-Blandine in the north, Saint-Didier-de-la-Tour in the east and northeast, Chélieu in the south and southeast, Doissin in the south and southwest and Torchefelon in the west.
