The series was initially produced from August 2007 by Polyscreen, a joint venture between Constantin Film and Polyphon Hamburg, as well as Constantin Television GmbH . Since episode 1851 (first broadcast: January 2017), Dahoam is Dahoam has been produced exclusively by Constantin Television GmbH . Bettina Ricklefs and Daniela Boehm are responsible for editing at Bayerischer Rundfunk.
action
Dahoam is Dahoam is about the experiences of the inhabitants of the fictional Upper Bavarian village of Lansing. Stories from everyday family and village life are told, which include the Brunner family, the Kirchleitner brewery family, the Bamberger family and the Preissinger family. The main characters of the story form a regular ensemble that changes again and again over the course of the seasons.
Episodes
Since the series began on October 8, 2007, over 2,500 30-minute episodes have been broadcast in fourteen seasons. Four more new episodes are typically broadcast each week. The content of the episodes and the characters have partly changed over time.
An episode usually consists of three storylines and ends with a cliffhanger . At the same time as the end credits, a leading role in “Lansinger's opinion” speaks directly to the viewer, comments on the events of the episode and gives a small preview of the next episode.
The episodes 597 to 599 were broadcast for the three-year existence of the series on October 9, 2010 as a 90-minute feature film with the title "Heartbeat in Lansing".
For the fifth anniversary of the series, episode 995/996 was broadcast on September 21, 2012 as a double episode with the title "Once upon a time in Lansing". This was followed by an approximately 10-minute series special “Breakdowns from Lansing”, in which breakdowns were shown during the shooting.
Since January 2016, all episodes of a week have been published in advance on the Internet on the previous Thursday. However, this did not change the TV broadcast of the episodes from Monday to Thursday.
To mark the 10th anniversary of the series, the episodes from 1996 to 1998 were broadcast on October 20, 2017 as a 90-minute feature film with the title “Manege free for love”.
The film village of Lansing
The shooting takes place on the site of a former fine cardboard factory on the outskirts of Dachau . Within a very short time, old factory buildings were converted into the film village of Lansing on the 15,000 m² site . The landscape photos, on the other hand, show the village of Tettenhausen in the Rupertiwinkel, part of the municipality of Waging am See ( Traunstein / Upper Bavaria ) .
In April 2018, Bayerische Rundfunk announced the extension of the lease for the production hall in Dachau until spring 2021.
The Brunnerwirt
Every week, Bavarian television broadcasts its Sunday regulars table live from the “Brunnerwirt” inn .
In addition, two episodes of the cooking show Lansing kocht were recorded in the “Brunnerwirt” in August 2011 and broadcast on Bavarian television in November and December 2011 respectively. Some of the leading actors from Dahoam is Dahoam cooked various menus with their friends and BR host Roman Roell .
Audience ratings
The first broadcast on October 8, 2007, had a 17.7% market share in Bavaria and was viewed by 680,000 viewers. Across Germany there were 1.12 million viewers who tuned in when the program started. In 2015 the market share of the series in Bavaria was 17.6 percent and thus reached a new high. Up to 1.30 million viewers across Germany tuned in to every episode from the village of Lansing in 2015. Thus "Dahoam is Dahoam" was the market leader in the German television landscape at the time of broadcast.
Trivia
General information about the series
- The spelling of the title does not correspond to the spelling rules, correct would be “Dahoam is dahoam” - with the wrong capitalization of the second “dahoam” aspects of typography and typeface obviously played a role.
- The first 96 episodes are available on four DVD boxes. They came on the market from March to June 2008.
- On September 6th, 2008 the first Dahoam-is-Dahoam-Fan-Day took place on the turning area. 12,000 visitors took advantage of the look behind the scenes. Such a fan day has been held every year since then.
- The theme song "Dahoam is Dahoam" appears frequently within the series: In episode 1 it was on the radio when Saskia came to Lansing with Annalena, in episodes 105 and 116 it was played in the background, in episode 246 Roland, Caro, Saskia, Trixi and Ludwig on a karaoke evening.
- Bavarian TV is always on TV ( BR TV from April 2016 ), including Dahoam is Dahoam , such as in episodes 721 or 984.
- Ms. Schattenhofer, the wife of the mayor and district administrator until 2019, is mentioned again and again by various villagers, but has so far neither appeared nor occupied.
- Christine Reimer was only an extra at the beginning of the first season and became the supporting role of the countrywoman Monika during the first season. In April 2009 it became the main role Monika Vogl.
- Daniela März, who played Maria Kirchleitner (or later Maria Brunner) until episode 876, was seen incognito as a funeral guest at the series burial of her own character "Maria" in episode 880, following a custom among series actors.
- Claus Weber ( FW ), second mayor of the city of Dachau , is an honorary citizen of the film city of Lansing and has already played a small role twice himself.
- Up to episode 141, the credits were always running first and then the "Lansinger opinion", since episode 142 the credits have come next to the "Lansinger opinion".
- On September 21, 2012, “Pannen aus Lansing” was broadcast in a series special. Breakdowns from the shooting were shown from the beginning to the current episode.
- The usual "Lansinger opinion" is occasionally left out at emotional climaxes. When Franz Kirchleitner died in episode 256, the program ended with a compilation of Franz's favorite places of residence, in which a quieter mourning variant of the "Dahoam is Dahoam" title melody was played. When Maria died, the mourning variant of the title melody was also played in episodes 876 and 877, but the "Lansinger opinion" was not dispensed with.
- In contrast to the usual three storylines, episode 877 consisted of only one storyline, namely the families in Lansing mourning Maria.
- In the episode 1046 Christmas was celebrated in Lansing and this episode did not end with a "Lansinger opinion", but at the end of all Lansinger the " devotional yodel " was sung in front of the church. In the following episode 1047, New Year's Eve was celebrated in Lansing and this did not consist of three storylines, as usual, but only one storyline, namely a crime dinner in the Brunnerwirt, where the guests were supposed to guess the murderer in the crime story.
- Episode 1087 on March 13, 2013 was not broadcast at 7.45 p.m. as usual, but rather at 10:05 p.m. due to ongoing special programs from Rome for the 2013 conclave .
- The fan day 2014, which took place on September 6, 2014, had the motto "Lansinger Feuerwehrfest" and was therefore also the topic of the series action in the episodes before and after (1376 and 1377). A few months earlier, fire brigades were able to apply to compete against the Lansinger fire brigade (consisting of the main characters in the series) on Fan Day. The historic Racherting fire brigade won . As a novelty at Fan Day 2014, a special episode was filmed during the current Fan Day, which did not continue the plot directly, but showed the fire brigade festival announced in 1376. The fans served as extras. On Sunday, September 7, 2014, the 30-minute special episode was broadcast exclusively on the BR homepage and repeated on Bavarian television on the following Saturday.
- The episode 1440 did not consist of three storylines, but only of what happened in the Brunner family on Christmas Eve. Theres told a fictional story from 1929, which lasted almost the entire episode. The story, designed as a flashback , was played by the actors of “today's” Lansinger, but in different roles.
- The episodes 1587 to 1589 show the wedding of Benedikt Stadlbauer and Monika Vogl. The day of the wedding is thus spread over three episodes. The episodes 1588 and 1589 also consist of only one main storyline, namely the wedding itself.
- Since episode 1692 of April 11, 2016, the episodes are no longer broadcast at 7.45 p.m., but at 7.30 p.m.
- The satirical mini-series " Lansing Files " from 2019 plays u. a. on the rotating area of the original series and also includes some of its actors in the plot.
- In episode 2504, the actor Ferdinand Schmidt-Modrow, who died a few weeks earlier, is remembered. His role character did not die in it, but went on a spontaneous, unplanned long journey. In the course of the episode, all Lansingers remembered their time with their pastor in flashbacks and mourned him. At the end of this episode, the “Lansinger opinion” is longer than usual: Theres reads a poem by Hermann Hesse and then hangs a picture by Ferdinand Schmidt-Modrow in the Brunnerwirt. The "Lansinger opinion" is not, as usual, underlaid with the title melody, but with the mourning variant of the title melody.
- Due to the corona crisis in Germany , the shooting for Dahoam is Dahoam had to be stopped at short notice from March 20, 2020. During the compulsory filming break, the scripts were rewritten and adapted to the new hygiene regulations, so that the number of actors in a scene was reduced and older actors over 70 who belong to the risk group were temporarily not in use (sometimes against their will). Contrary to the usual realistic representation, however, the corona crisis and the associated measures should not be included in the scripts and the series should remain "corona-free". On April 28, 2020, filming resumed with revised scripts and new protective measures (e.g. wearing a face mask during rehearsals). As a result, a broadcast gap could be averted for the time being, the episodes pre-shot before the shooting stopped only lasted until May 14th (episode 2530). For the episodes from episode 2531 onwards, the new hygiene concept could be implemented (with the exception of scenes that had already been filmed earlier), older actors were initially not on the shoot, but were partly integrated via video feeds from the home office. Due to the interim shooting stop, the episodes were no longer available in the media library before the broadcast due to the shorter period between shooting and TV broadcast from May 2020 to and including July 2020.

Shortly afterwards, in episode 2479, Heidi, Valentina's daughter, was born in Mike's car when Mike happened upon Valentina, who was giving birth, next to the street. However, Valentina fears that she cannot be a good mother and therefore plans to give Heidi up for adoption. To prevent this, Mike, Annalena and Sebastian persuade Valentina to visit their mother in South Africa for six weeks so that they can think about things in peace. In episode 2484, Valentina leaves, but leaves her baby Heidi in the care of Annalena and Mike.
- In episode 2486, Baierkofen's mayor Manfred Fischer proposes to Rosi for tactical reasons, which Rosi accepts.
- After Veronika got closer to her ex-husband and campaign helper Max during the election campaign and hardly has time for her partner Roland, Roland decides to take a break. In episode 2492 he goes on a bicycle tour to China for an indefinite period of time. From this point onwards his mother Helga takes his place in the pharmacy and temporarily moves into Bamberger's apartment, which Veronika and Josephine next to her live in.
- In episode 2495, after the local elections, it is announced that Rosi Kirchleitner has been elected as the future mayor of Lansing.
- In 2500, Rosi separated from Manfred Fischer after she realized that he couldn't separate professional and private life and that his marriage proposal was only motivated by better chances in the election campaign. After separating from Manfred, she gets closer to her previous partner Sascha.
- In episode 2504, Sarah reports to the rest of the Lansinger family that her brother Simon has spontaneously and unannounced on a long journey and will not return. However, he has provided for a substitute as pastor, from this episode onwards the former pastor Vinzenz Kurz takes over the care of the Lansingen parish again.
- In episode 2523, Rosi Kirchleitner takes office as Lansinger mayor. Her predecessor Veronika Brunner is now temporarily unemployed and is working as a cook at the Brunnerwirt again on a temporary basis. In episode 2531, however, she was diagnosed with a slipped disc due to her recurring back problems, so that she could no longer do her job as a cook.
- In episode 2555, Johannes Glaser is hired as the new master brewer at the Kirchleitner brewery, initially without Martin Kirchleitner noticing.
- In episode 2561, Max Brunner leaves Lansing again, as he has to protect his company in America from threatened bankruptcy. criticism
Kitsch dialect
The series was in the focus of public criticism, especially at the beginning of its broadcast, because the Bavarian spoken in the series was only an adapted, kitsch version of the Bavarian dialect. In fact, essential elements of Bavarian are weakened or left out in the scripts (for example, simple past tense forms are occasionally used that basically do not exist in Bavarian and phonological characteristics of the dialect are neglected). Dahoam is Dahoam is currently the only German daily television series in which the Bavarian dialect is spoken. The occasional deviations from the Bavarian dialect are also due to a better understanding of the series outside of Bavaria.
Budget overdraft
In April 2011, the Bavarian Supreme Audit Office published the results of its audit of the series "Dahoam is Dahoam". He criticized that the production of the first season of the series incurred additional costs of around 1.2 million euros . A recalculation of the fourth season carried out on the basis of the test resulted in savings of 1 million euros compared to the original calculation.
Unauthorized production aids
Furthermore, the Supreme Court of Auditors complained in the report that the contract manufacturer had made use of production aids for the vehicles shown in the series and recommended the BR to examine claims for repayment against the manufacturer. The editorial team supposedly knew nothing about the production aids. According to the agreements, the use of production aids by the contract manufacturer should have been reported to the BR.
Criticism of the appearance of the CSU Minister Söder
For the episode of January 20, 2015 entitled “Political Sausage Phobia”, the editorial team invited Bavarian Finance Minister Markus Söder ( CSU ). In this guest appearance, Söder enumerated the achievements of the Bavarian state government and his ministry in an interview with Lansingen's mayor Veronika Brunner . Because of this appearance, Bayerischer Rundfunk came under fire from the Bavarian Association of Journalists , whose chairman declared: “There cannot be any more obvious abuse of public broadcasting. In this case, Bayerischer Rundfunk is obviously far removed from the state. "TV director Bettina Reitz explained to the BR press office," The DiD team of authors had long planned to incorporate fictional stories from reality with real politicians into the series. Among other things, they asked Markus Söder and wrote him the guest role in the script. ”The process sparked a discussion within the BR and in numerous media about the station's proximity to the minister's party. In the BR Broadcasting Council, the legal advisor of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation, Albrecht Hesse, explained the "violations of program principles in the Söder episode". In addition, director Ulrich Wilhelm decided not to allow any further appearances of politicians in the series.
