The 1969/70 season of the ice hockey Bundesliga was the twelfth season of the Bundesliga , the highest German ice hockey league . The German champion was EV Landshut , which was able to finish both the preliminary and the championship round in first place. In the relegation of could Mannheimer ERC and ESV Kaufbeuren stay in the league, while the hockey teams of Eintracht Frankfurt and Cologne EK in the league had to dismount. There were no promoters this season, as the league was downgraded from twelve to ten teams.

After three years, the single-track Bundesliga was reintroduced. The twelve Bundesliga teams first met while each other in a single round, for the resolution in the summer team of Bayern Munich the advanced ESV Kaufbeuren fourth qualifying round of the South of the preseason after. The best eight teams then played for the championship title in another single round without taking their points. The teams in places 9 to 12, on the other hand, had to fight with the best six teams from the league, three each from the south and three from the north, in a relegation round for two free Bundesliga places, as the league was to be reduced to ten teams. Since Preussen Krefeld, as third in the Oberliga Nord, did not participate, only nine teams took part in the relegation.
