Village square in Sonderhofen

In August 2005 the village square in the center of the village was completed. The eye-catcher is a boulder from which a water fountain gushes. The former mayor Ludwig Mühleck personally tends this place with numerous flowers, shrubs and grassy areas.

Parish church

The parish church, consecrated to John the Baptist, was built around 1755. A new nave was added to the old building according to plans by Johann Michael Fischer .

In the baroque portal is the coat of arms of Prince-Bishop Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim above the entrance door . The tower was rebuilt in 1843 and provided with a domed roof and lantern in 1869.

Between 1765 and 1895 the furnishings were created by artists such as Johann Peter Wagner (high altar), Fritz Bayerlein and Antonio Petrolli (stucco work) and Georg Anton Urlaub (ceiling painting). The artistic, light, bright and festive-looking figures and the stucco decorations earned the church the nickname pearl in the Gau .
