The real facts behind the change of name was as follows: the english "section" of CURCC wanted to quit practice of football and return to cricket as in 1891-92;mainly because of the numerous fans that destroyed the trains during the weekends and costed so much money to the club; (-first hooligans-?).The uruguayan "part" insisted that cricket was not popular among the people ,and also the club made a name by playing football, not cricket.By votation,Football won over Cricket and the english directives decided to left, and thus, the season of 1913 the club started playing as "CURCC" and ended as "CURCC Peñarol".Later,on 13 December that year, name changed to actual denomination of Club Atlético Peñarol (as the club already had athletism and other sports along with football).People who say CURCC and Peñarol co-existed in time, argues that CURCC existed until 1915.The true is that, the field of CURCC indeed kept its form of football place until that year, but only symbolical,as the ex directives of CURCC (english) didn't want other clubs of the area to take the field as home stadium (even Peñarol),and that is the proof of the inactivity of CURCC itself in 1914.Peñarol then moved to new and still existent field Las Acacias.

Central Uruguay Railway Cricket Club, known as CURCC, was a sports club from Uruguay, founded on September 28th 1891 in Montevideo, the country´s capital. CURCC was the result of the decision of the british railway company in Uruguay to have a sports club. As a matter of fact, the colours of the club were inspired in the railway signs.

The club reached important achievements in the 1890´s and in the first decade of the twentieth century, but then entered in ostracism. This aspect is the cause of endless discussions between uruguayan sports fans: On one hand, those who claim that CURCC disappeared in 1915. On the other hand, those who claim that CURCC only changed its name and began to be known as C.A. Peñarol. The real facts behind the change of name was as follows: the english "section" of CURCC wanted to quit practice of football and return to cricket as in 1891-92;mainly because of the numerous fans that destroyed the trains during the weekends and costed so much money to the club; (-first hooligans-?).The uruguayan "part" insisted that cricket was not popular among the people ,and also the club made a name by playing football, not cricket.By votation,Football won over Cricket and the english directives decided to left, and thus, the season of 1913 the club started playing as "CURCC" and ended as "CURCC Peñarol".Later,on 13 December that year, name changed to actual denomination of Club Atlético Peñarol (as the club already had athletism and other sports along with football).People who say CURCC and Peñarol teams co-existed in time, argues that CURCC as institution existed until 1915.The true is that, the field of CURCC indeed existed until that year, but only symbolical,as the ex directives of CURCC (english) continued paying the rent and they didn't want other clubs of the area to take the field as home stadium (even Peñarol),and that is the proof of the inactivity of CURCC itself in 1914.Peñarol then moved to new and still existent field Las Acacias.
