Mezmerizer/Bands/Anonymös

Anonymös is a heavy metal garage band. They were formed in Milford, Michigan sometime in mid-2006.

History

Formation

One day, during music lessons, David Poole met with guitarist Greg Stahl, who was his teacher. After they made some song ideas, they formed a band called "The Cedar Pointers". Chris Poole, Davids twin brother, was going to learn how to play bass, so he joined the band. A bit after Chris joined, the band switched their name to Anonymös due to pending legal issues. Casey Grebe, Chris's freind, expressed intrest as the bands drummer. The band, looking for a drummer, unofficially let him join. Casey, though, could not get activated into the band due to a lack of a drum kit, so he never officially joined the band.

Recording Self-Titled

After Chris joined the band, they signed under Summit Records and started pre-recording their first album, Self-Titled. At this time, they didnt have a drummer, so they used a drum machine instead. During this period, this band had not been set as one genre, ranging from progressive death-thrash to symphonic thrash to industrial thrash to power metal. The band eventually settled on not having a true genre.

In early October of 2007, the band finished pre-production of Self-Titled. The band is currently working on the official production of Self-Titled.

Music

Sound

All of Anonymös's songs have high amounts of experimentation. The band describes their genre as "no genre" , and as a result, their sound is hard to define. Unusual sounds are often used, and odd techniques are also common. Anonymos's overdriven guitar riffs are usually simple and consist of power chords. The basslines in Anonymos's songs are prominent and sometimes modified with effects. The drumming is very propellant and heavy, while the vocals are a combination of Chris's hardcore-styled shouting and David's screaming and rasping.

Influences

The band cites Metallica and System of a Down as the biggest influences. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are also an influence. David Poole cites Rage Against the Machine (mostly guitarist Tom Morello) as an influence to his guitar solos and experimentation.
