The Volvo China Open is a men's golf tournament which is co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the Asian Tour. The European Tour sanctions several events in Asia, and is making a particular effort to exploit the Chinese market. The event was first played in 1995 and has been part of the European Tour's schedule since 2003. The 2005 prize fund was $1.3 million United States dollars, and in 2006 it will be $1.8 million. [1] The 2005 tournament was played in November, but in 2006 it will be brought forward to April. Both of these stagings are part of the 2006 European Tour season.
