Stephen Dodd (born July 15, 1966 in Barry , Wales ) is a Welsh professional golfer .

Career

Dodd won The Amateur Championship at Royal Birkdale in 1989 and was therefore invited to the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club the following year , where he was allowed to play in a flight with Sandy Lyle and Curtis Strange . He then went on to become a professional golfer .

After many years on the Challenge Tour , a tournament series of the second level, Dodd was only able to establish himself permanently on the European Tour from 2001 . In the 2005 season he had his big breakthrough with two tournament wins and winning the World Cup with partner Bradley Dredge for their home country Wales. In the same year Dodd was also in the winning team Great Britain & Ireland at the Seve Trophy . In July 2006 he won his third tournament victory, the Smurfit Kappa European Open and the biggest check of his career for € 578,792.

He has been eligible to play on the European Seniors Tour since summer 2016 .
