Alnabanen is a 5 km long Norwegian railway line between Alnabru and Grefsen in Oslo. The line was built in 1900 to allow trains to go directly from Gjøvikbanen to Hovedbanen or Alnabru. There is little traffic left on the line, only about four to eight trains daily, and no passenger traffic.

Possible passenger trains

Public transportation and environmental advocates have tried to get passenger train services on the railway, between Lillestrøm via Alna and Grefsen to Kjelsås. This will ease transport between the Grorud Valley and Økern and Nydalen, that are partially zoned for commerical development. The only present transportation possibility between the two places is via downtown Oslo. A service would involve the construction of a new station at Økern and connections to the Oslo T-bane at Økern and Storo. Jernbaneverket has concluded that they do not want to test the service while Norges Statsbaner say they do not have enough rolling stock for operation on the line.[1]
