Datai is a genus of ankylosaurid dinosaur from the Zhoutian Formation of southeastern China. The genus contains a single species, D. yingliangis, which is known from two specimens: YLSNHM 01002, the holotype of the genus, which consists of a skull and partial skeleton and the paratype YLSNHM 01003, which also consists of a skull and a less complete partial skeleton.[1] The generic name of the animal, Datai, is a composite of the last character of the words 'tongda' (to understand/to be sensible) and 'antai' (stable) in Chinese Pinyin. The specific name yingliangis is in recognition of the Yingliang Group.[1]
