Rozonda Ocelean Thomas (born February 27, 1971) is an American R&B singer and actress best known by her stage name, Chilli.

Biography

Thomas was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to a Guyanese father of East Indian descent and an African American mother.[citation needed] She was raised by her mother in the Atlanta area and didn't meet her father until she was twenty-five years old, a reunion captured on an episode of The Sally Jessy Raphael Show.

In 1991 she joined the group TLC, replacing founding member Crystal Jones. In 1995, and again in 2003, she was voted one of People magazine's "The 50 Most Beautiful People". On June 2, 1997, Thomas gave birth to Tron, whose father is long-time TLC producer Dallas Austin. She was involved in a relationship with Usher Raymond from 2001 to 2004. In 2006 she was number 90 on Maxim's Hot 100 women of the year and is currently promoting herself as a solo artist. She is currently dating T.J. Holmes, an anchor working at CNN.

Solo Career

In the time since TLC's last studio album, Thomas has hosted a radio show in Atlanta and has engaged in charitable activities. She made guest appearances on shows such as The Parkers, That 70s Show, and Strong Medicine. In 2000 she was featured in the made-for-television movies A Diva's Christmas Carol (with Vanessa L. Williams) and Love Song (with Monica), and in the film Snow Day. In 2001 she co-starred in the action film Ticker.

In 2006 Thomas signed a four-album deal with Akon's Interscope Records label Kon Live Distribution, which will release her solo Debut album is to be released in Fall 2007. The album will include work done with executive producers Akon and Missy Elliott as well as tracks produced by Timbaland and Will.i.am. Some of the songs have already been leaked on the Internet. A track titled "Gameproof" was leaked in Spring 2006. On February 16, 2007, "Straight Jack", a track featuring Missy Elliott produced by Polow Da Don, was leaked in a mixtape and later on the Internet. Chilli both sings and raps on the leaked tracks. Straight Jack recently entered the Deutsche Black Chart in German at #35. [1]

The first single, "Glidin'" leaked on the internet May 15, 2007.
