SpongeBob SquarePants season 1
This article is a list of episodes from season one of the Nickelodeon animated television series, SpongeBob SquarePants. The first season of SpongeBob SquarePants premiered on May 1, 1999, but officially first aired on July 17, 1999 with "Help Wanted, "Reef Blower", and "Tea at the Treedome".[1] The season consited of a total of twenty episodes. The season ended on April 8, 2000 with "Hooky" and "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy II". The DVD for the season was released in Regions 1, 2, and 4 on October 28, 2003, November 7, 2005, and November 30, 2006, respectively. The pilot episode, "Help Wanted" was not included on the season one DVD, due to copyright issues. However, the aforementioned episode was included as a bonus feature on a future season's DVD.[2]

Help Wanted
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode "Help Wanted" is the opening SpongeBob SquarePants episode from season one, usually referred to as the SpongeBob SquarePants pilot episode. The episode starts out with a French narrator, who introduces Bikini Bottom and SpongeBob SquarePants. SpongeBob wakes up to go apply for a job. SpongeBob wants a job at the Krusty Krab, home of the Krabby Patty, and also "the finest eating establishment ever established for eating," according to SpongeBob. He wants the job very badly, but determines that he is not ready for it yet. His good friend (a starfish named Patrick) tells SpongeBob that he was meant for this job because apparently his first words were "May I take your order"? and he made a spatula out of toothpicks in a workshop and he's a yellow cube with holes and he's ready. He convinces the sponge to apply. Squidward, who is cleaning a window at the Krusty Krab, knows SpongeBob and is upset to see him come for a job. Squidward and Mr. Krabs, the owner of the restaurant, decide that he must prove himself first. He must fetch a "hydrodynamic spatula with port and starboard attachments, and a turbo drive." Mr. Krabs and Squidward laugh when he leaves, because Mr. Krabs just made that up off the top of his head (or so he thinks). While SpongeBob finds the spatula at the local grocery store, the Krusty Krab has to contend with a large group of hundreds of hungry anchovies, who have no manners and make the restaurant a madhouse, and to compound the problem, without a fry cook. SpongeBob returns with the spatula and triumphantly feeds every last anchovy. He gets the job and Mr. Krabs starts counting his sack full of money. Patrick comes in, and SpongeBob uses the same crazy routine to feed him.

Reef Blower
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode "Reef Blower" is a silent SpongeBob SquarePants episode short from season one. It is part two of the pilot episode. In this silent short, Squidward walks outside to look at his beautiful, spotless "lawn." He sees a shell on his lawn. He believes that it ruins the appearance of his lawn, so he pretends to accidentally kick it onto SpongeBob's lawn. Suddenly, SpongeBob pops out of his window and sees the shell, and also wants a lawn with a nice look to it, so he gets his "reef blower" (an underwater version of a leaf blower) out of his garage. He turns it on, much to the annoyance of Squidward, who is trying to relax on a hammock. Squidward plugs his ears and SpongeBob struggles to blow the shell away. Frustrated, he mistakenly blows a large column of sand onto Squidward. SpongeBob blows the sand off of Squidward, and blows some off of a leaf too. The sand which blows off of the leaf gets into and irritates Squidward's eyes. He blows the sand out of his eyes. SpongeBob peers over at his sidewalk and sees a pile. He puts the blower into "reverse", then sucks the pile of sand into the reef blower, which malfunctions. The sand and a few mechanical gears blow out. SpongeBob unzips the reef blower and puts the whole mess in by himself. When the reef blower refuses to start, SpongeBob pulls the cord back so far, that he gets yanked back fast through an intersection and it finally starts. However, it sucks in all of the water in the ocean. Squidward nearly passes out. The reef blower then explodes, leaving piles of sand all over Squidward's property, and many other neighbors' property too, while SpongeBob's lawn is perfectly clean. Satisfied, SpongeBob goes back inside, while the shell lands on Squidward's nose.
Tea at the Treedome

"Tea at the Treedome" is the third part of the pilot episode and the 1st appearance o Sandy Cheeks. In it, SpongeBob is invited to Sandy's underwater glass treedome for the first time ever after he meets Sandy karate chopping a huge clam. When SpongeBob knew that the squirrel was in trouble he did karate too. When SpongeBob goes to his best friend, Patrick to ask him what wearing "air" meant (Sandy wore a helmet full of air), Patrick concludes that it's fancy talk ("putting on airs"). He tells him to hold his pinky up all the time, so he can look "fancy", too. SpongeBob goes to Sandy's Treedome, but unfortunately, her home is filled with air. Once inside, SpongeBob dries up (resembling an old person), but to be polite, doesn't mention his condition. Patrick, who was watching SpongeBob from outside, comes in to help SpongeBob be fancy, but ends up drying up himself. Eventually the problem is resolved when Sandy gives them helmets filled with water.

Bubblestand

SpongeBob opens a stand for blowing bubbles. Patrick soon joins in but Squidward starts complaining to SpongeBob and sends him and Patrick off in shame. But Squidward decides to blow a bubble too, and after being forced to pay twenty-five cents, refuses to follow SpongeBob's technique. When he finally does, Spongebob's technique works and Squidward blows a huge bubble which eventually engulfs his house and takes it to the skies (with Squidward in it). It eventually pops and Squidward's house floats back down.

Ripped Pants

SpongeBob tries to impress Sandy at Mussel Beach and accidentally rips his pants. He is embarrassed until he realizes the crowd thought it was a joke. His ripped pants are a hit, but SpongeBob's joke gets old, fast. The song "Ripped Pants" was produced by the Hot Olives, a group that occasionally opened for the Beach Boys. He was meant to sound like the band.

Jellyfishing

When SpongeBob and Patrick find that Squidward is recovering from a bicycling accident, they take him jelly fishing and are determined to make his first day back from the hospital his "best day ever." Unfortunately, their good intentions wreak havoc on Squidward's recovery efforts. Squidward catches a jelly fish but then a huge jellyfish emerges and gives a tremendous sting to him, Spongebob, and Patrick. Then next day, Spongebob and Patrick give Squidward (now in a body cast) the jelly fish he originally caught. Squidward let's it loose and it stings Spongebob and Patrick multiple times as they run away. Squidward laughs but the big jellyfish comes and stings him again, breaking off his body cast. Squidward then mutters, "Ouch."

Plankton!

Sheldon James Plankton tries to steal the Krabby Patty formula one day but, as usual, Mr. Krabs stops him. That night, Plankton tries to con SpongeBob into giving him the formula. When he doesn't, Plankton has to go to his last resort - controlling SpongeBob's mind. Plankton gets just inches away from getting the secret formula by trying to make him drop it into a machine that tells him the exact ingredients (For example, seaweed, 50% sea, 50% weed). But Spongebob ends up tricking him into trapping himself in his own machine. It is then shown that Plankton is 1% evil, 99% hot gas.

Naughty Nautical Neighbors

SpongeBob and Patrick are happily spending the afternoon whispering messages into bubbles and blowing them to each other. Squidward gets annoyed by this and makes his own bubbles that include insulting messages. After hearing these messages, SpongeBob and Patrick end their friendship. However, they both become Squidward's friend. After laughing at how Spongebob and Patrick broke up, he chokes on his fork. Patrick fills him with air(mouth to mouth) and when Squidward deflates he spits out the fork making Patrick think he "won." Squidward plays a song but immediately, Patrick falls asleep. Dragging Patrick out, Squidward throws out his back. Spongebob launches himself into Squidward's back which fixes it. Spongebob plays a song on Squidward's cello. As Patrick sings along, Spongbob gets mad and breaks the cello. Annoyed, Squidward tries to get the two to become friends again. He gives them many glasses of soda. They get fat and Squidward goes to get more. Spongebob hiccups bubbles and when they pop, it burps. They both start laughing and the house fills up with bubbles and the house explodes. After Squidward kicks them out the door falls on him, reinjuring his back.

Boating School

SpongeBob has to go to boating school and keeps failing his driving test due to his habit of freaking out when the driving part of the test comes up. He tells Patrick about the problem and Patrick says that he will help him by sticking a radio in SpongeBob's head and tells him what to do. He wears a ten-gallon hat on the antennae to hide it. He's about to pass but Mrs. Puff describes exactly what he's doing but Spongebob thinks it's a joke. SpongeBob learns that he is cheating, and his habit of freaking out catches up to him again.

Pizza Delivery

A customer asks for a pizza from the Krusty Krab, so SpongeBob and Squidward are sent to deliver it. Squidward tells him to back up, but as he doesn't know how to drive, he panics, accidentally throws the boat into reverse, and speeds off. Unfortunately, SpongeBob gets them lost, and now they can't find their way back to Bikini Bottom. When they finally reach the customer's house, he gets mad because he didn't get his drink (a Diet Dr. Kelp, despite the fact that he didn't order it.) and says he does not want to buy the pizza. SpongeBob then starts crying and Squidward, feeling sorry for him, slams the pizza in the customer's face. Squidward comforts SpongeBob, assuring him the delivery was, in fact, successful, and drives them both (on a boulder they have commandeered) back to the Krusty Krab - just a few feet behind them.

Home Sweet Pineapple

Nematodes come to town and eat SpongeBob's house. SpongeBob unwillingly decides to move back with his parents. Squidward happily agrees but Patrick, tearful at the thought of seeing his best buddy go, tries to do anything he can to keep SpongeBob from leaving. When all of the plans do not work, SpongeBob's parents arrive and he has to go. Squidward, happy to see him leave, happily dances on the spot where SpongeBob's house is. Then, a seed is planted on the area and the ground starts to shake and his house grows back. SpongeBob and Patrick are happy that he is not leaving, but Squidward does not, not only because SpongeBob is not leaving, but also because the house was planted on him.

Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy

SpongeBob and Patrick discover that their favorite television superheroes, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, live in a retirement home on the other side of Bikini Bottom. They try to convince the crime-fighting duo to come out of retirement.Spongebob pretends to be robbed by Patrick. But Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy take it to seriously and attack Spongebob and Patrick, who enjoy the attack. The heroes summon all the people in the retirement home and the form an angry mob. They pick up Spongebob and Patrick, making them think they're heroes. Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy decide to come out of retirement thinking there's too much "evil afoot."

Pickles
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode A picky fish named Bubble Bass comes to the Krusty Krab for a Krabby Patty. Bubble Bass says SpongeBob forgot the pickles, which makes SpongeBob lose confidence and forget the order of the Krabby Patty. Mr. Krabs goes to Spongebob's house and gives him the ingredients to a Krabby Patty. After three days straight, Spongebob is too frustrated and actually puts together a Krabby Patty. He gives another Krabby Patty to Bubble Bass who claims there's still no pickles. Once everyone figures out Bubble Bass hid the pickles under his tongue (and other items), SpongeBob gains back full confidence and they give him three cheers.

Hall Monitor
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode SpongeBob becomes the hall monitor at boating school, much to Mrs. Puff's dismay and terror. He spends the entire day giving an acceptance speech, so Mrs. Puff lets him keep the hall monitor gear on until the next day. After class, he still thinks he is the hall monitor. SpongeBob attempts to help people all over Bikini Bottom, which only leads, as usual, to chaos. At a broken red light, Spongebob becomes some sort of crossing guard and cause a major accident. But he doesn't seem to notice. He finds a house with an open window and believes he must show them the dangers of leaving a window open. He breaks in through the window and scares them away hoping they "learned their lesson." He then arrests Patrick after Patrick "litters" by spilling his ice cream. After a paperboy reports of a maniac (Spongebob) Spongebob believes its his duty to capture him not knowing it was himself. Patrick decides to help, putting his ice cream cone on his head as "a symbol of his authority." The police give Patrick a picture of Spongebob as the maniac. He sees Spongebob and warns him that the maniac is where he is, not knowing the maniac is Spongebob. He keeps telling Spongebob to go places and confuses him by saying that the maniac was there too. Spongebob realizes he's the maniac and the police arrest him. Mrs. Puff says he's her responsibility and is arrested. She teaches on a Tv and tells Spongebob she wants to see him after class, "six months from now."

Jellyfish Jam
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode SpongeBob brings home a wild jellyfish and has a big party at night 12 hours as Squidward says. However, he learns that wild animals can throw very wild parties, even after the master has gone to bed. More jellyfish come and throw a party for the next 6 hours. Spongebob constantly tries to stop the party but fails. Squidward decides to play his worst on his clarinet. The jellyfish get mad and start stinging Spongebob. After he asks Squidward to play a little better, Squidward blays into a microphone. The jellyfish then go and sting Squiward. Squidward gives his clarinet to Spongebob saying they won't be hearing from him anymore. The jellyfish break the clarinet, set it on fire and dance around it. Spongebob tries to throw out the CD player and the jelly fish try to take it back. Theyend up breaking it and the jellyfish get furious. Gary taps his eyes together creating a beat and the jellyfish dance. On the way to jellyfish fields, more beats begin by other objects and the jelly fish continue to dance. They arrive at jellyfish fields and they stay there as the song continues to play.

Sandy's Rocket
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode Sandy and SpongeBob are going to the moon, but at night SpongeBob and Patrick sneak into the rocket to "alien-proof" it. While doing so, they accidentally start up the rocket, but they crash-land back in Bikini Bottom. Thinking they are on the moon, they capture all the "aliens" (actually the inhabitants of Bikini Bottom) until Sandy comes and sets them straight. But they capture Sandy and then turn against each other, thinking each other is an alien. Patrick accidentally shoots himself and SpongeBob captures him. SpongeBob lands on the moon thinking the Bikini Bottom has really changed. He looks at the earth and realizes what he has done. Then all the inhabitants of Bikini Bottom say that "the aliens would like a word with him".

Squeaky Boots
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode Mr. Krabs gives SpongeBob a pair of squeaky boots after his daughter Pearl refuses to take them, saying she wanted "the new flipper slippers". SpongeBob drives Mr. Krabs crazy with them, so Mr. Krabs has to find a way to get rid of the boots hiding them under the floorboards of the Krusty Krab. He ends up eventually eating them, after which he suffers from squeaky hiccups while going on a vacation with Pearl and her new flipper slippers. The episode references The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe.

SpongeBob decides he wants to live with jellyfish. He runs naked into jellyfish fields. Sandy and Patrick try to convince him to come home, but he claims that jellyfish fields was his home. Distraught, Patrick tries to capture Spongebob but he hides in a jellyfish nest. Patrick gives up, breaking his net and leaves.Spongebob eats the jelly insidethe nest and when the jellyfish come home they sting him. He goes to a cave where he gets itchy by poison sea urchines. He misses his friends and goes home where they're already waiting for him. He apologizes and puts his pants back on. They all hug him but they get itchy from his poison sea urchine sting. It ends with them scratching themselves.

Opposite Day

When Patrick learns it's opposite day, he and SpongeBob wreck the pineapple to make it clean for Opposite Day. Wanting his house to sell, (he couldn't sell if he had bad neighbors) Squidward starts fixing SpongeBob's house. Confused, SpongeBob decides to be the opposite of him and act like Squidward by pulling out his nose and putting his belt around his head to look like Squidward just when the realtor shows up. Patrick put a piece of coral shaped like Squidward's nose on his face. Spongebob makes a terrible description of Squidward's house, since it was Opposite Day. He claimed the floors creak, the roof leaks, there's a terrible draft, the winters are harsh the summers are brutal, and there's a wildman eating clam in the back yard. Patrick says he's also Squidward. Squidward then sees the realtor is there. He comes in after Spongebob is playing terrible songs on Squidward's clarinet. Squidward then reveals himself and the realtor is furious asking if there's other Squidward's she should know about. Gary uses a pickle as his nose and meows. The realtor leaves. Spongebob and Patrick still think it's opposite day and say they hate Squidward. Squidward tells them to let him show them how much he hates them and chases them with a bulldozer.

Culture Shock
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode When the Krusty Krab is losing customers, Squidward has the idea of hosting a talent show. On the night of the talent show, Squidward thinks that he will have to have the most successful act and become famous. Spongebob wants to be in it but Squidward has him clean up after the show. The talent show has many people such as Pearl doing cheerleading, Gary doing poetry, and Plankton does magic (although he uses it to try to steal a Krabby Patty but fails). Squidward does interpritive dance but he gets booed and gets tomatoes thrown on him. He tells Spongebob to clean up in which the crowd begins to cheer. Squidward tries to do what Spongebob did, but failing, and trying to figure out what Spongebob has, but he doesn't.

"F.U.N."
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode Spongebob is convinced Plankton's evil because he is lonely, so he befriends him. They go frolicking in jellyfish fields singing the F.U.N song (F is for friends who do stuff together, U is for you and me, N is for anywhere at anytime at all, down here in the deep blue sea). Plankton at first is friends but Karen convinces him to continue to try to get the Krabby Patty. Everyone sees that Plankton is using SpongeBob to get to the secret Krabby Patty recipe. Spongebob doesn't believe them so he goes to the movies with Plankton. But Mr. Krabs tells him to reach into Plankton's pocket and take what he's got. Spongebob takes out a Krabby Patty and they both cry. Plankton admits that he tricked Spongebob to get the Krabby Patty but realizes all he ever wanted was a friend. But he says it's not true and runs behind the screen but runs into the concrete. Mr. Krabs and Spongebob go to the Krusty Krab to have a fresh Krabby Patty and Plankton is flicked onto to Bubble Bass's hand. Bubble Bass chases him thinking he's a jelly bean.

MuscleBob BuffPants
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode Since SpongeBob is too much of a wimp to work out, he orders fake muscle arms so he can seem strong. The trick works until Sandy signs SpongeBob up for an anchor throwing contest. Defeated, Spongebob's fake muscle arms could not hold up to the strength of the anchor and became destroyed,popping from the air and Spongebob's effort, dismaying everyone, even Sandy. Sandy gives him a different workout. He flips through channels and at the end both his arms pop off.

Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost

When the real Squidward appears, he is covered in powder, causing SpongeBob and Patrick to think he is a ghost. Squidward makes them do everything he tells them to so that he won't "haunt" them. After he tells them to clean one of his room SpongeBob finds a comic book saying he should put Squidward to rest. Squidward says no, so they blow a bubble around him sending him to dry land.

The Chaperone
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode Pearl's boyfriend stands her up so she has to take SpongeBob to her prom. Spongebob make himself "long tan and handsome" as Pearl's boyfriend was. When they get there, SpongeBob manages to mess everything up. Pearl, sad to see SpongeBob upset, gives him another chance.Even though no one else thinks so, they have a great time! When they get home, Mr. Krabs scares SpongeBob and he freezes up. It turns out that the SpongeBob in the episode was a dummy that the real SpongeBob built.

Employee of the Month
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode SpongeBob gets scared that Squidward will win the Employee of the Month award and break his ongoing streak of 26 consecutive wins. He and Squidward stay up all night and play mean tricks on each other so they won't get to work on time. When they get to the Krusty Krab, they break everything and make so many patties that the Krusty Krab blows up. It rains Krabby Patties so people began taking them. Mr. Krabs is trying to get Spongebob and Squidward to make sure they pay for them but they are too busy asking whose the employee of the month.

Scaredy Pants
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode SpongeBob wants to scare everybody in Bikini Bottom so he pretends to be The Flying Dutchman. Spongebob is square so nobody is scared but are laughing. Sponge the Hire Patrick shaves Spongebob's body off so that he's shaped like a ghost. When SpongeBob gets to the Krusty Krab's Halloween party, he does a good job of scaring everybody, but loses it when Patrick, who has been helping him fly from above by tying him to a rope and swinging him around, gets stung by a jellyfish. The real Flying Dutchman comes to steal everyone's soul, but SpongeBob scares him away by taking off his costume, showing his brain from the shaving Patrick did, also scaring off everybody else.

I Was a Teenage Gary

However, Squidward just abandons Gary and the poor snail starts to starve. Thinking Gary is going to die, Squidward rushes into SpongeBob's house and tries to make the poor snail eat three days' worth of food. SpongeBob calls the veterinarian, who gives him a syringe containing snail plasma. The plasma is accidentally injected into SpongeBob's nose turning Spongebob into a snail, and Squidward tries to help himself when he dodges the transformed SpongeSnail, and ends up turning into a snail himself after accidentally injecting himself. Gary, Spongesnail and Squidsnail meow to a song, and when Squidward starts to get happy singing, Patrick tells him to "clam up" and throws a boot at him.

When he finally thaws, he finds himself 2,000 years in the future and is desperate to get back. Everything is chrome in the future. He meets Spongetron and Spongetrons X, Y, and Z. Squidward asks if the other letters in the alphabet are involved and Spongetron say all 486 of them. Then a two headed Patrick shows up named Patron. They send Squidward to a time machine. He goes to the past and meets the ancient Spongebob and Patrick. He makes the jellyfishing nets to jellyfish with and he plays his clarinet. Spongebob and Patrick go crazy and chase him into the time machine. He breaks the lever and the screen goes blank except for him. He gets scared and runs but he keeps ending up in the same place. He jumps and falls into the time machine. He begs it to take him home and it does. He's happy to see Spongebob and Patrick but they ask him to go jellyfishing. He asks who invented the dumb thing anyway and they say it was him. He then remembers when he taught the ancient Spongebob and Patrick to jellyfish.

Karate Choppers

Then Patrick Snaps After SpongeBob didn't give him a real gift. However, SpongeBob's gift arrives and Patrick becomes friends with SpongeBob again.

The Paper
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode To Squidward, it's a worthless gum wrapper. But in the right hands it's a gold mine of entertainment. Just ask SpongeBob, who has picked up the tossed wrapper and is using it to amuse himself while Squidward is annoyed. Squidward decides to give everything that he has to SpongeBob for the paper. SpongeBob agrees but the paper isn't really fun for Squidward.

Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode SpongeBob, Patrick, and Mr. Krabs start playing a board game. Mr. Krabs likes it so much that he wants to go on a real treasure hunt. After several humorous mistakes ("East? Ohhhh... I thought you said 'West' [pronounced weast]"), the crew is about ready to give up. After Mr. Krabs goes to bed for the night, SpongeBob and Patrick find the "map" (actually the board game), but end up stumbling upon the treasure.

Rock Bottom
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode After a delightful day at Glove World, SpongeBob and Patrick take the wrong bus and end up "below" Bikini Bottom in a strange town called Rock Bottom. Here, the fish speak in a different "accent," by blowing a raspberry in between words. SpongeBob tries to find out when the next bus will come, but the bus comes and takes Patrick. SpongeBob desperately tries to get on a bus but every bus leaves when he walks back. An angler fish chases Spongebob's runaway Glove-World balloon. After the last bus leaves, the angler fish returns with the balloon and helps him inflate it so Spongebob can fly back to Bikini Bottom. In the end, Spongebob returns but Patrick thinks Spongebob is still lost takes the bus back to look for him.
Texas
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode Sandy is homesick for 'good ol' Texas'. But SpongeBob is determined to cheer her up by bringing a bit of Texas right to Bikini Bottom and organizes a surprise party at the Krusty Krab. However, when they go to fetch Sandy, they learn she is moving back to Texas and desperately try to get her to stay. An errant comment from Patrick reveals Sandy's frustration with anyone who insults Texas and they use it to get her to chase them, but find they have made her more furious than anticipated. Spongebob manages to make it back to the Krusty Krab as Sandy catches him and their Texas party, including square dancing (a fish dancing with a box), Bar-B-Que (a prickly Q-shaped item held by Squidward), and Pecan Pie (or "Peas in a can Pie") convince that Sandy that she really is home: her new home of Bikini Bottom.

Walking Small
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode Plankton wants to build another Chum Bucket so he gets SpongeBob to drive everybody away from the beach by teaching him how to be aggressive. Nothing is working out for Plankton until he gives SpongeBob one more chance. SpongeBob makes everyone go away through "assertion", and Plankton shows him his ulterior motives. SpongeBob, out of guilt, gets everyone to come back by being, "aggressively nice."
Fools in April
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode SpongeBob plays harmless April Fool's jokes on everyone ("You asked for a couple of ice cubes, and I only put in one!"), but Squidward, fed up by the jokes, plays one very mean joke on SpongeBob, involving painful slaps into the walls, ceiling, etc. SpongeBob has a pitiful, humiliated look on his face, and everyone feels sorry for him. After SpongeBob runs away crying, the crowd angrily scrutinizes the cruel joke played on the sponge. Squidward tries to brush it off, but is haunted by the voice that shouted, "You stink," which was spouted out by his mother. Squidward realizes he must set things right to ease his conscience. Squidward tries to apologize to SpongeBob, but he is too stubborn and reluctant to bring himself to apologize, since people would see that he has a soft side. In fact, the first time he tries, he gets out only "Sssssssss..." and his head explodes. Finally, after much effort, he manages to utter an "I'm sorry," but is shocked to discover that many people heard him say it, which turns out to be a more humiliating April Fool's joke than his own that he played on SpongeBob.
Neptune's Spatula
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode While at the Fry Cook Museum, SpongeBob pulls a legendary spatula out of a bucket of grease. The legend states "whoever pulls the spatula out will be Neptune's servant," however Neptune isn't pleased to find that the diminutive Spongebob is the one who accomplished the feat and refuses to take him on. After some goading by Patrick, Neptune agrees to accept Spongebob, but only if Spongebob can best him in a burger cooking contest, but with a price: if Spongebob loses, he must give up fry cooking forever. Spongebob takes him up on the offer, but quickly loses the race to make one thousand burgers. Neptune, cocky after his victory, gives his burgers to all the spectators only to find that they taste terrible. He learns a lesson in "quality over quantity," when he tastes the one burger that Spongebob was able to make before the contest finished and finds that it is incredibly delicious. He allows Spongebob to come back to his home of Atlantis to cook for him, but Spongebob is reluctant to leave his friends and home of Bikini Bottom. To make all parties happy, Spongebob agrees to teach King Neptune how to properly cook a patty.
Hooky
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode Mr. Krabs comes in the Krusty Krab one day warning everybody about fishing hooks and how they take you away. Patrick comes one day and says that the carnival is in town. The "carnival" is actually a bunch of fishing hooks. Patrick thinks they're not dangerous because apparently they are covered with free cheese. Spongebob is unsure, remembering Mr. Krabs' warning, but soon joins Patrick in riding the hooks up (jumping off before you go too high) after seeing how much fun he is having. Mr. Krabs finds out that SpongeBob took a break from the Krusty Krab when Squidward was in a feeding frenzy. Mr. Krabs catches the pair and makes them promise never to play on the hooks again by telling them stories about being caught and turned into tuna. The next day, Patrick continues to play on the hooks, saying he had his fingers crossed from Mr. Krabs's promise, but Spongebob refuses until temptation gets the better of him and he goes for one more ride. Much to his horror, he finds the hook has snagged his pants and adding to the embarrassment, when he goes to get help from Mr. Krabs, he finds Pearl and all her friends there as well. After a humiliating experience of ignoring Mr. Krabs, having to take off his pants in front of everyone in order to save himself, and running home naked, we learn that this was actually a scheme cooked up by Mr. Krabs in order to make sure Spongebob learns his lesson about avoiding the hooks. On a side note, after Spongebob heads home, we learn that Patrick was not able to jump off one of his earlier hook rides in time when he comes home trapped in a can of tuna.
Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy II
Template:Infobox SpongeBob episode SpongeBob wins a conch shell that can call his favorite superheroes in emergencies. However, SpongeBob's definition of "emergency" is drastically different than Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy's. Barnacle Boy angrily takes the conch shell away, making Spongebob sad. As a compromise, Mermaid Man allows Spongebob to follow them on their heroic rounds for a day, but the crime fighting duo soon become annoyed with him. When they attempt to ditch him, they are snagged by their arch-nemesis, The Dirty Bubble, and it is up to Spongebob to rescue them.
