Peenya is the name of an industrial area of the Bangalore city in India. It is considered to be one of the largest industrial areas in Asia[citation needed]. Peenya lies on Bangalore - Mangalore Highway ( NH-48 ). It houses small, medium, and large scale industries. The industrial area is known for engineering, electrical goods such as: transformers, motors and generators, textile (silk), hydraulics and machine tool industries. The industrial area was established in late 1970s. Well known companies in India like Wipro Technologies, Kirloskar Group, ABB have their factories at Peenya.
