The State University of Ponta Grossa (Portuguese: Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa, UEPG) is a public higher education institution in the state of Paraná, Brazil. The university has two campuses in the city of Ponta Grossa and one campus in the city of Telêmaco Borba.

The Institution offers 36 undergraduate courses, in addition to post-graduate courses at specialization, master's and doctorate level. Its area of influence covers approximately 22 municipalities of Parana.

History

UEPG was created by the State Government through the Law 6.034, November 6, 1969, and Decree no 18.111, January 28, 1970, which resulted in the incorporation of the already existing faculties that were working independently, such as the State College of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Ponta Grossa, the State College of Pharmacy and Dentistry of Ponta Grossa, the State College of Law of Ponta Grossa and the State College of Economic Sciences and Administration of Ponta Grossa.

The university is also known in Brazil as a center of excellence in Journalism (area in which UEPG is considered to be among the top ten in the country).[1]
