Telêmaco Borba , officially Portuguese Município de Telêmaco Borba , is a city in the Brazilian state of Paraná . It was installed in 1964 as a self-governing municipality and had an estimated 78,974 inhabitants on July 1, 2019 on an area of 1382.86 km².
The main branch of the economy is the paper industry, in the place there is a paper factory of the company Klabin, which earned it the nickname Capital Nacional do Papel (capital of paper).
The factory is separated from the city by a deep river valley. In addition to a bridge, the factory is connected to the city by a cable car . According to a sign in the cable car's gondola, it was built by the Georgsmarienhütte steelworks in 1953. The Usina Hidrelétrica Governador Jayme Canet Júnior (formerly Usina Hidrelétrica Mauá) hydropower plant is located on the Tibaji river between Borba and Ortigueira .
Telemaco Borba Airport is located near the city .
Surrounding communities are Tibagi , Imbaú , Ventania , Curiúva and Ortigueira . The community has a tropical temperate climate, Cfa according to the Köppen and Geiger climate classification . The average temperature is 18.4 ° C. The average rainfall is 1378 mm per year.
