Burton O'Brien is a former Scotland Under-21 midfielder, born in South Africa. He started his career at St Mirren before moving to Blackburn Rovers. After making one solitary appearance he moved to Livingston, becoming an integral part of the League Cup winning side in 2004. In the 2005-06 pre-season he decided to move to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

He currently still reserves an option whether to play for the Scotland or South African national teams.

His family in Scotland stay in Johnstone Castle, Strathclyde and would like to see him play for the Scottish national team. His cousin Emma Blackwood also plays for the Kilmarnock ladies team and Scotland.

Burton began to show his class towards the end of the 2005-06 season with Wednesday, scoring crucial second goals against Preston North End and Brighton and Hove Albion. Template:Scotland-footybio-stub
