Anthony Musaba (born December 6, 2000 in Nijmegen ) is a Dutch football player who is also a citizen of the Democratic Republic of the Congo . The winger has been under contract with the NEC Nijmegen since his youth .

Career

Musaba began playing football at VV Ewijk and then spent six years at the joint football school of the NEC Nijmegen and FC Oss (now Voetbalacademie NEC ). Between 2014 and 2018 he played in the youth teams of arch-rival Vitesse Arnheim .

Musaba played his first competitive game in the men's division on matchday 35 of the second division 2018/19 season in a 3-2 away win against FC Volendam . At the end of the regular season he reached the promotion play-offs with Nijmegen, where a 2-0 home win in the first round was followed by a 3-0 away defeat against RKC Waalwijk , whereupon the promotion to the Eredivisie was missed. In the summer of 2019, the winger, after he was no longer eligible to play for the A-youth, moved up to the first team of the NEC and received a professional contract valid until June 2021. As a result, the offensive player fought for a regular place and was able to score his first second division goal in the 1: 2 on matchday 1 against FC Eindhoven . Until the end of the 2019/20 season after 29 match days due to the COVID-19 pandemic , Musaba played in 26 competitive games and was able to contribute eight more goals and five assists. However, from the 26th match day he was out due to an ankle injury.
