The Eerste Divisie 2018/19 or Keuken Kampioen Divisie (after the Keuken Kampioen brand of the kitchen manufacturer De Mandemakers Groep) was the 63rd season of the second highest Dutch football league. It began on August 17, 2018 and was interrupted by a winter break from December 24, 2018 to January 12, 2019.
Since the champion of the 2017/18 season, Jong Ajax , was not eligible for promotion, the runner-up, Fortuna Sittard , rose to the Eredivisie . The 2009/10 Eredivisie champions , FC Twente Enschede , played second class for the first time since the 1980s. Due to the league reform in autumn 2017, there were no relegators in and no promoted from the Tweede Divisie .

The 20 teams played against each other in return games, so that at the end of the season each team had 38 games to show. The season was divided into four seasons of 9 games each, the first two game days were not included in the relay system. The performance from the relays was transferred to the overall table.
The league champion rose directly to the Eredivisie. If one of the second teams from Eredivisie clubs had become champions, the next-placed club would have moved up. Places 16 and 17 of the Eredivisie and places 2 to 10 (without 3rd place) of the Eerste Divisie played for the relegation in three play-off rounds, each with a round trip. Second teams had to give up their places in the play-offs, and a relay win also decided the allocation of the last place to participate in the first play-off round. The two winners of the first round met in Round 2 against the 16th and 17th of the Eredivisie. At the same time, places 2 to 6 (without place 3) of the Eerste Divisie played against each other. In round 3, the four winners from the second round met each other. Ideally, two more teams would have been promoted from the Eerste Divisie. The four reserve teams of the honorary divisions Ajax, PSV, FC Utrecht and AZ were not eligible for promotion and therefore did not take part in the play-offs. If the professionals were relegated, a reserve team would have been threatened with relegation to the Tweede Divisie.
As in the previous season, the relegation regulation was suspended this season.

Table history
Postponed games are displayed according to the original scheduling so that the same number of games is taken into account for each team on all match days.
Promotion / relegation
Places 16 and 17 of the Eredivisie and the eight best-placed teams of the Eerste Divisie eligible for promotion played in three play-off rounds, each with a return game for promotion or relegation . Second teams from Eredivisie clubs could not be promoted to the Eredivisie and were therefore excluded from the play-offs. This affected the third-placed second team of PSV Eindhoven . The season winners of the Eerste Divisie, played in four phases, were qualified for the play-offs, regardless of their position in the overall table, but the season winners Sparta, Den Bosch and Almere were able to qualify regularly for the play-offs, and the fourth season winner Twente rose as champions on.
In the first round, the four lowest-placed teams from the Eerste Divisie played against each other (10th against 7th and 9th against 8th). The two winners of the first round will meet the 16th and 17th of the Eredivisie in round 2. At the same time, the four higher ranked teams in the Eerste Divisie play against each other (6th against 2nd and 5th against 4th). In round 3, the four winners from the second round met each other. The two winners of the third round qualified for the Eredivisie 2019/20 .
