The Mandemakers Stadium is the sporting home of the RKC Waalwijk football club in the Dutch city of Waalwijk , in the province of North Brabant . The football stadium was opened on September 15, 1996. With 7500 seats, it is the smallest of the stadiums of the clubs in the Eredivisie in the 2020/21 season .
history
From 1940 to 1996 the RKC Waalwijk played in the old " Olympia Sportpark ". This stadium was not very popular and was called the “bike shed” because of its poor condition.
The last game in the sports park took place on May 5, 1996 between Waalwijk and Fortuna Sittard (1: 1). Then work began on the new “Olympia Sportpark” and after only four months the new stadium with 6200 seats was up and running. The floodlights were taken over from the NAC stadium by NAC Breda , who also built a new stadium. After the corners of the football stadium were closed, it reached the current capacity of 7,500 seats.
The venue continued to bear the name “Olympia Sportpark” until 1999, when the Dutch kitchen, sanitary and furniture manufacturer “Mandemakers Group” became a name sponsor .
