The Erve Asito (previously Polman Stadion ) is a football stadium in the Dutch municipality of Almelo in the province of Overijssel and home of the honorary divisionaire Heracles Almelo . Until the opening in 1999, Heracles played in the now demolished stadium aan de Bornsestraat . The Erve Asito currently offers 12,080 seats in the stands. This includes 300 seats in the 20 boxes and 1,700 business seats. 500 seats are available for the guest fans.

history

The stadium designed by Hans van den Dobbelsteen was opened on September 10, 1999 with a friendly match between Heracles Almelo and FC Zwolle (1-1), with Job ten Thije scoring the first goal in what was then Polman Stadium. Since the beginning of the 1999/2000 season of the second-class Eerste Divisie , Heracles Almelo has played its home games in what was then Polman and, since the renaming (in July 2019), today’s Erve Asito Stadium. In 2005, the audience capacity was expanded from 6,900 to 8,500 seats, of which up to 400 seats are reserved for guest fans.

In March 2014, the Almelo City Council approved a loan of around eight million euros for the stadium expansion in a vote (28: 5 votes). The venue was to be expanded to 13,500 seats. Heracles Almelo had previously planned the construction of the Ten Cate Arena with 15,000 seats and shops with a total sales area of 50,000 m 2 for 30 million euros. Renting out the space should help cover the construction costs. On the other hand, however, was the province of Overijssel, which had invested 8.9 million euros in downtown Almelo and its shops. On June 30, 2014, the first phase of the renovations began with the changing rooms, offices and the press conference room. Furthermore, a floor with a VIP area and boxes was set up. In 2015, construction work began to expand the capacity. The football arena with a grandstand rank was expanded to include a second rank. For this purpose, the roof of the former Polman Stadium was removed and replaced with a new structure. The entire seating was renewed and designed in the club colors white and black. The cost of the redesign was 12.5 million euros.

For the first home game of the 2015/16 season on August 16, 2015 against the NEC Nijmegen , more than 12,000 seats were available in the stadium. Further work was carried out in the stadium before the home premiere. So u had to a. the last gaps in the roof have been closed and the business club completed, the turnstile systems set up at the entrances and the snack bars set up. With a 3-0 win, Almelo celebrated its premiere on August 16, 2015 in the converted football arena. The game was sold out with 12,084 spectators.

In February 2019 it was announced that the stadium will be given a new name. Since July 1, the home wearing of Heracles the sponsor name Erve Asito , after cleaning companies Asito. The long-term contract has a term of ten years.
