The Fortuna Sittard Stadium (proper spelling Fortuna Sittard Stadium ) is the football stadium of the Dutch football club Fortuna Sittard . It replaced the De Baandert stadium built in 1954 .

history

The stadium opened on November 14, 1999. The first game was played by Fortuna Sittard and FC Schalke 04 (1: 1). At that time it was called Wagner & Partners Stadium , which it kept until 2008. From 2008 to 2009 it was renamed Fortuna Stadium . On October 22nd, 2009 the club announced that the arena will be named Trendwork Arena . The Dutch temporary employment agency Trend Work Uitzendgroep secured the naming rights and the contracts were signed on November 27, 2009. From September 2013 the stadium was named Offermans Joosten Stadion after the insurance and financial company Offermans Joosten Groep . In July 2014 the contract was terminated and the football arena is named Fortuna Sittard Stadium .

The arena consists of four roofed rows of seats, which adjoin the playing field and are separated from the lawn by a ditch. The sports facility offers a total of 12,500 seats for the fans. There are 16 boxes and 1,060 business seats. There are 800 places available for guest fans. The stadium has rooms for events such as conferences, celebrations, meetings, receptions or dinners. You wear u. a. the names Mark van Bommel Zaal and Bert van Marwijk Zaal . A multi-storey car park with 800 spaces belongs to the stadium. In the summer of 2012, a club museum was opened in the stadium.

In January 2017, a supermarket of the discounter Aldi Nord opened under one of the tiers in the stadium . The idea of ​​setting up a market had existed for years. In 2009 the supermarket chain Albert Heijn signed a contract and wanted to open a store by 2012. After disputes about the financing, which led to court, Albert Heijn built the supermarket near the stadium.

In the 2018/19 season, Fortuna Sittard will be back in the Eredivisie after 16 years .
