Águilas Riviera Maya is a former Mexican football club based in Playa del Carmen , Quintana Roo .

history

The license to participate in the second division was acquired by the newly founded franchise called Águilas (German eagle ) in the summer of 2005 from the Huracanes de Colima , who were represented in the Primera División 'A' in the previous year and who in turn obtained the license from Inter a year earlier Riviera Maya . Thus, the Águilas brought second division football back to the Riviera Maya .

Under the direction of the Mexican coach Juan Antonio Luna , the team, whose best-known players included the Argentine striker Luciano Leccese , the Chilean Roberto Cartés , the Cameroonian Alain Junior Ollé Ollé and the Mexican Moctezuma Serrato , scored four wins and six draws in the Apertura 2005 and nine losses, making it the worst of all 20 teams.

After only one half season , the franchise was withdrawn from the league and its license was sold to the traditional club CD Zacatepec , whose team played the second half of the 2005/06 season in the second division.
