Álvaro Fiúza de Castro

Álvaro Fiúza de Castro (born October 19, 1889 , † after 1955 ) was a Brazilian officer who was chief of the Army General Staff between 1948 and 1955 in the rank of major general.

Life

Castro completed an officer training in the army (Exército Brasileiro) of the armed forces (Forças Armadas do Brasil) and subsequently found various jobs as an officer and staff officer. On October 15, 1931 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on May 24, 1937 to colonel and was as such from June 7, 1939 to December 27, 1940 commander of the Realengo military school (Escola Militar do Realengo) . On December 25, 1940, he was promoted to Brigadier General . He was later from July 11, 1942 to January 1943, acting commander of the 7th Military Region (7.ª Região Militar) and was promoted to major general on March 25, 1946 . In 1946 he was a member of the Brazilian delegation to the Joint Brazilian-US Defense Committee and most recently from 1948 to 1955 Chief of the Army General Staff.
