Álvaro Ramos

Álvaro Ramos Trigo (born March 11, 1950 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan politician and agronomist . From 1995 to 1998 he was Foreign Minister of Uruguay.

Life

Ramos, who belongs to the Partido Nacional , initially successfully completed a degree in agricultural science from 1970 to 1976 at the agricultural science faculty of the Universidad de la República . In 1982 he obtained a diploma in corporate management and development from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation .

As the first ministerial office, he took over from March 1, 1990 to February 1, 1993 the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries ( Spanish Ministerio de Ganadería, Agricultura y Pesca ). Ramos then served as Foreign Minister of Uruguay from March 1, 1995 to February 2, 1998 . His successor in this office was Didier Opertti . In addition, Ramos held a senatorial mandate from February 15, 1995 to March 2, 1995 and again from February 10, 1997 to February 14, 2000 in the 44th legislative period . He later took on a board position at the consulting company CONSUR and at CARBOSUR . He is also a consultant to the Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación Agrícola (IICA), has a teaching position at the Universidad ORT Uruguay and has various other consulting activities.
