Árni Johnsen

Árni Johnsen (born March 1, 1944 on Vestmannaeyjar ) is an Icelandic politician ( Independence Party ).

Árni Johnsen initially worked as a teacher, from 1967 to 1991 as a journalist for the daily newspaper Morgunblaðið and as a program planner for Iceland's public broadcaster Ríkisútvarpið (RÚV), where he also worked for the television station Sjónvarpið since it was founded . He was from 1983 to 1987 and from 1991 to 2001 as a representative of the former constituency of Suðurland and from 2007 to 2013 as a representative of the southern constituency ( Suðurkjördæmi ) member of the Icelandic parliament Althing .

From 1994 to 2001 and 2007 to 2013 he was a member of the Icelandic delegation to the West Nordic Council ; from 1996 to 2001 he was its chairman.
