Ásmundur Einar Daðason (German transcription Asmundur Einar Dadason , born October 29, 1982 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic politician of the Progress Party and since November 30, 2017 Minister for Social Affairs and Equality in the Icelandic Ministry of Welfare. He used to belong to the left-green movement .

Ásmundur Einar holds a Bachelor of Science degree in General Agriculture from the Icelandic Agricultural College in Hvanneyri . He worked as a sheep farmer in the Dalasýsla district and ran a company importing and selling agricultural products.

From 2009 to 2016 he was a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing for the Northwestern constituency . Ásmundur left the Left-Green movement in April 2011 and joined the Progressive Party in June of the same year. He was re-elected in the parliamentary elections on April 27, 2013 . Since 2015 he was group leader of the Progress Party. He did not run for the parliamentary elections in Iceland in 2016 , in 2017 he was re-elected and was re-elected to the Althing.

Since November 30, 2017, he has been Minister for Social Affairs and Equal Rights in the Katrín Jakobsdóttir cabinet , which consists of members of the Left-Green movement, the Independence Party and the Progressive Party. Its Ministry and the Ministry of Health, headed by Svandís Svavarsdóttir , form the Icelandic Ministry of Welfare ( Velferðarráðuneytið ).
