Arm warmers , often called Arm designated, are a form of Armkleidung. In principle, these are individual sleeves that can be slipped over the arms. They extend from the upper arm to the wrist.

Sleeves are - similar to leg warmers - mainly used by cyclists as functional clothing in order to be able to adapt quickly to the weather conditions in changeable weather. The tight-fitting sleeves should protect against cold and moisture. They are made from highly elastic synthetic fibers. At the upper end, the sleeves finish with the cycling jersey. Rubber bands prevent slipping. Sleeves are a flexible alternative to a long sleeve jersey.

In addition, sleeves are also used as protective clothing in various branches of industry and in medical technology.
Up until the middle of the 19th century, accountants and typesetters mostly wore sleeves or sleeves to protect them from dirt.
