The Outer Western Carpathians (Polish Zewnętrzne Karpaty Zachodnie ) are a mountain range of the Western Carpathians in Poland ( Silesia , Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian Voivodeships ), Slovakia and the Czech Republic . They protrude into Austria in the southwest . Its highest peak is the Babia Góra with 1725 m in the Saybuscher Beskids .
Demarcation
The border with the Central Western Carpathians forms the Pieninen rock belt in the south , the most striking part of which is the Pieninen mountain range on the Polish-Slovakian border. The Northern Subcarpathian region joins in to the north and west . In the east they go over to the Outer Eastern Carpathians . In contrast to the latter, the Outer Western Carpathians have a pronounced promontory
