Åsa Margareta Dornbusch (* 1975 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

After lessons with her father, the opera singer Hans Dornbusch-Johansson (tenor soloist at the Royal Opera in Stockholm) and with chamber singer Ingvar Wixell , she completed her vocal training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London (Bachelor of Music and Post Diploma ) and at the Alexander Gibson Opera School / Royal Scottish Academy (Master's Degree in Advanced Opera) in Glasgow. She was honored with the “Incorporation of Weavers Award” (award for a highly talented student) in 2001.

From 2002 to 2006 she was engaged for the role of Cherubino in Figaro's wedding in the production by Johannes Felsenstein at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau . In recent years she has been engaged in opera productions as Antonio in Hasse's Antonio e Cleopatra and as Galatea in Handel's Aci, Galatea e Polifemo at the Batignano Opera Festival in Italy. She gave the Cherubino at the Schwetzingen Mozart Festival, at the Opera i Ystad in Sweden (award for best acting and vocal performance from the Operan-i-Ystads friends) and at the Classic Open Air Gendarmenmarkt Berlin. Åsa Dornbusch could be heard and seen at the open-air events Brüglingen near Basel as Kathinka in Smetana's Bartered Bride , as Mère Marie in Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmélites and as Baba the Turk in Stravinski's The Rake's Progress at the Edinburgh Festival Theater . She performed the Hansel in Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel at the Classic Festival Burg Monschau near Aachen, the Prince Orlofsky in the Fledermaus and the Lady Katisha in Sullivan's Mikado in the productions of the Fricktaler stage in Rheinfelden (Switzerland).

Åsa Dornbusch is the Artistic Assistant Director for the Båstad Kammarmusik Festival, Sweden's largest chamber music festival.
