Åsunden is a lake in Västergötland with an area of 33 square kilometers. The length from south to north is 22 km and the width varies between one and two and a half kilometers. The greatest depth is 40 meters. The outflow of the lake is the Ätran river .
history
The lake is historically known from the Battle of Bogesund in 1520 between Swedes and Danes on the ice of the lake. The town of Ulricehamn is at the northern end of the lake.
Shipping
The iron-built steamship Munter was built by Count Erik Sparre von Torpa bei Ulricehamn for the transport of passengers on the Åsunden in 1879 at Lidköpings Mekaniska Verkstad in Lidköping . The boat was sold to Åsundens Trafikförening in 1910 and brought to the Yngaren .
