Émile Cambessedès

Émile Cambessedès (born November 24, 1826 in Cologny , † November 24, 1891 in Geneva , resident in Geneva) was a Swiss politician .

biography

Cambessedès probably attended middle school and then was a primary school teacher in Cologny from 1850 to 1856 . He then was inspector general of the Geneva primary schools from 1856 to 1869.

From 1858 to 1862, from 1868 to 1878 and from 1880 to 1882 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Geneva , where he represented radical views. From 1870 to 1881 Cambessedès was on the Geneva State Council , where he was head of the Department of Home Affairs and Cultural Affairs , at the height of the culture war . Two years after his election to the Geneva government, he was elected to the Council of States in 1872 and had a seat there until 1875.

Cambessedès was also director of the Geneva mortgage bank from 1881 to 1882 and head of the city's tax system from 1882 until his death. He was also a member of the Institut national genevois .
