Roger Yasukawa (born October 10, 1977 in Los Angeles ) is a former American racing driver of Japanese descent.

Career

Yasukawa began his motorsport career in karting in 1991 , where he was active until 1997. In 1998 he moved into the single-seater racing and entered Europe in the Formula Palmer Audi on. He finished his first season in 16th place overall. In 1999 he returned to North America and competed in the Barber Dodge Pro Series . After finishing ninth in 1999 and seventh in 2000, he finished fourth in the drivers' championship with a victory in 2001. In 2002 he moved to the Atlantic Championship and was Ryan Hunter-Reay's team-mate at Hylton Motorsports . Yasukawa won the race at West Allis and finished the season behind Hunter-Reay in 10th place overall.

In 2003 , the American was signed by Super Aguri Fernández Racing for the IndyCar Series . He finished eight races among the top ten drivers and was twelfth overall at the end of the season. He also became the second best newcomer behind Dan Wheldon . Despite performing in his debut season, Yasukawa did not receive a full season cockpit in 2004 . For Rahal Letterman Racing he went to the races in Motegi and Indianapolis and was 26th in the drivers' championship. In 2005 , Dreyer & Reinbold Racing gave him another cockpit for the whole season. This time he never made it into the top ten and finished 17th overall.

Yasukawa has not played a full season since 2006 . In 2006 he started for Playa Del Racing and in 2007 for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing at the Indianapolis 500. In 2008 he was signed by CURB / Agajanian / Beck Motorsports / Wellman Racing for the races in Motegi and Indianapolis, but could not compete for the Indianapolis 500 to qualify. In 2009 he started for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in Motegi. In 2010 he competed again in Motegi for Conquest Racing and finished 40th overall at the end of the season and ended his driving career.
