Émile Doumergue
Émile Doumergue (born November 25, 1844 in Nîmes , † February 14, 1937 in Montauban ) was a Reformed theologian from France .
After studying at the University of Geneva , in Montauban and Germany, he became professor of church history at the theological faculty in Montauban in 1880 and dean from 1907-1919. He was mainly concerned with the life and work of John Calvin and, as a conservative Calvinist, fought against the advance of liberal theology in France. Doumergue wrote the inscription for the Servetus memorial stone in Geneva.
Doumergue was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Geneva in 1901 .
