Émile Chassinat

Émile Gaston Chassinat (born May 5, 1868 in Paris , † May 26, 1948 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye ) was a French Egyptologist and Coptologist .

Émile Gaston Chassinat initially worked in the printing industry and began to study Egyptology in Paris in 1888. From 1895 he was a member of the Institut français d'archéologie orientale in Cairo and was its director from 1898 to 1910.

He was involved in the excavations in Edfu , ad-Dair al-Bahari , Meir , Dendera , Abu Roasch , Bawit , Asyut , in the Valley of the Kings and in Qatta .
