Émile Jacques Gilbert

Émile Jacques Gilbert (born September 4, 1793 in Paris ; † October 25, 1874 there ) was a French architect .

Gilbert studied architecture at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris . In 1822 he won the prestigious Rome Prize of the French Academy. After his return to Paris in 1828, he was given the supervision of various public buildings. The Charenton-le-Pont hospital and the Hôtel-Dieu in Paris are among his most famous buildings .

In 1853 Gilbert was elected a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts .
