IC 1977 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Taurus in the northern sky . It is an estimated 445 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 185,000 ly.

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 27, 1897 .
