IC 1993 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Fornax in the southern sky . It is an estimated 43 million light years away from the Milky Way , has a diameter of about 50,000 ly and is listed under catalog number FCC 315 as a member of the Fornax galaxy cluster .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on November 19, 1897 .
