Émilie Fer (born February 17, 1983 in Bourg-Saint-Maurice ) is a French canoeist . She became Olympic champion in canoe slalom in 2012 .

Émilie Fer's mother, Gaelle Madrange, was a canoeist and French champion. Émilie got into canoeing through her school at the age of 12. Her first big success was winning the gold medal in the K1 team competition together with Mathilde Pichery and Marie Gaspard at the 2006 Canoe Slalom World Championships . In individual races, however, Fer did not place in the top three for a long time. It was not until 2009 that she won silver behind Elena Kaliská at the 2009 European Canoeing Slalom Championships . In 2012 Fer reached her first podium in a World Cup race with second place in La Seu d'Urgell .

In 2008 Émilie Fer was the French participant in canoe slalom at the Summer Olympics in Beijing . After the first final run she was in second place, but in the second run Fer missed a goal and fell back to seventh place.

For the canoe slalom competition at the 2012 Olympic Games , Émilie Fer was able to secure the only French starting place again. After tenth place in the qualification and third place in the semifinals, the Frenchwoman remained flawless in the only final round. She completed the course at the Lee Valley White Water Center in 105.9 seconds and won gold in front of the Australian Jessica Fox and the Spanish Maialen Chourraut .
