Elisabeth Micheler

Elisabeth Micheler (born April 30, 1966 in Augsburg ) is a former German canoe slalom skier in a single kayak .

Career

The doctor's assistant from Augsburg competed for Kanu Schwaben Augsburg , the canoeing department of TSV Schwaben Augsburg , and became world champion in 1987 with the team (with Margit Messelhäuser and Ulla Steinle ) and third in the individual competition. Since 1989 she has been training in Nottingham, England, and was able to become world champion in the individual competition in 1991. At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona , she became Olympic champion.

For winning the gold medal, she received the silver bay leaf on June 23, 1993.

After she married the British slalom canoeist Melvyn Jones in 1993 , she competed under the double name Micheler-Jones in Atlanta, where she could not win a medal.

She lives with her husband and children near Augsburg.
