Eric Hazan

Éric Hazan (* 1936 in Paris , France ) is a French author , publisher and surgeon .

Life

Hazan was in Paris as a child of a stateless Palestinian mother and one from Egypt originating Jewish born father. During the Algerian war , he stood up for the interests of the FLN , the Front de Libération Nationale , the Algerian Liberation Front one. After completing his medical degree, he specialized in cardiac surgery .

During the Lebanese civil war , Hazan went to Lebanon to serve as a doctor for the progressive Palestinians . He is a founding member of the French-Palestinian Medical Association . He is also a supporting member of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine , which has been in operation since 2009. In 2010, he and others signed a controversial petition in the Liberation newspaper , in which the police forces were called an occupying army when they appeared in Villiers-le-Bel , Val-d'Oise in 2006 .

Hazan's father had worked as an art book editor for fourteen years. His son was part of the management until this publishing house was sold to the Hachette publishing company. In 1998 Hazan Éditions founded La fabrique . He has been a writer since that time. He also works as a translator, for example of the works of Edward Said .
