eTel

The eTel Group , or eTel for short , was an Irish telecommunications company with subsidiaries in the Czech Republic , Hungary , Poland and Slovakia . The company, which was founded in Dublin in 1999 , offers, among other things, telephony and Internet access services , web hosting and server housing.

On December 20, 2006, Telekom Austria announced the takeover of the eTel Group for around 90 million euros . On April 12, 2007 it was announced that the competition authorities had approved the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of the operating companies of eTel agreed in December 2006 after Telekom Austria had entered into some voluntary commitments. These voluntary commitments primarily concerned the infrastructure of eTel Austria, such as the sale of a fiber optic ring and the return of WLL frequency usage rights.

Telekom Austria also announced that no staff cuts were planned and that the eTel brand would be continued. In January 2008 the sale of the eTel subsidiaries in Poland and Hungary became known.

In 2006, eTel Austria AG was the fourth largest telecommunications provider in Austria with around 225 employees and 225,000 customers. eTel Austria AG ceased to exist in mid-2008, but is part of Telekom Austria under company law . Only a few product names for existing products will be continued under the name eTel.

By taking over numerous companies, most recently EUnet and yc: net works, the company was able to expand its customer base and influence on the Austrian market. eTel Austria was 100% bought by Telekom Austria in 2007 . The final legal merger of eTel into Telekom Austria took place in May 2008, which also changed the company address to Telekom Austria. The eTel brand still exists, but eTel only offers products and services from Telekom Austria. Numerous eTel fixed line products that were still available for existing customers were discontinued on August 15, 2008.

Anton Schwarz: Was appointed on April 26, 2007 by the owner, Telekom Austria AG, as a member of the board of the former eTel Austria AG.
