The island has an area of around 300 hectares and a population of 800 people. This gives a nominal population density of 2667 inhabitants per km². The island is landnah and by a narrow tidal creek separated from the mainland. It can be reached via the only road and a small bridge.

The island is a popular holiday destination. There is a bathing beach in the south. On the island there is a bird protection center of the organization LPO. This also looks after the reserve on the Sept Îles ( German  "Seven Islands" ), which are off the coast. In an exhibition you can get information about the fauna and history of the islands. Among other things, videos of the gannet colony on one of the islands are shown. The number of breeding pairs this year is over 18,000. There are also puffins and many species of seagulls.

At the highest point of the Île-Grande lies the west-east oriented Allée couverte Ty-Lia or Ty-ar-C'horrandoned; 8.5 m long and 1.6 m wide. It is covered with two 4.5 and 3.5 m long granite slabs , which are supported by nine preserved 1.0 to 1.4 m high bearing stones. A third one is probably broken because the north-western end of the chamber is uncovered. The partially split bearing stones form the almost accessible chamber. One meter from the supporting stones are nine stones placed, the remains of the edging of the structure made of large slabs. The space between these plates and the gallery was probably originally filled with earth or stones.
