Óli Bjorn Kárason

Óli Björn Kárason (born August 26, 1960 in Sauðárkrókur ) is an Icelandic journalist and politician of the Independence Party .

Life

Óli Björn Kárason studied economics ( BS from Suffolk University in Boston 1989). He worked as a journalist , including for Morgunblaðið . In 1994 Óli Björn Kárason was the founder of the business newspaper Viðskiptablaðið and its editor-in-chief until 1999. From 1999 to 2003 he was editor-in-chief of the tabloid DV , then until 2007 editor of Viðskiptablaðið . He is the author of several non-fiction books.

In the parliamentary elections on October 29, 2016 , Óli Björn Kárason was elected to the Icelandic parliament Althing as the candidate of the Independence Party for the Southwestern constituency . He was re-elected in the early parliamentary elections on October 28, 2017 . As of November 2019, he is chairman of the parliamentary committee on economic affairs and trade and a member of the constitutional and supervisory committee.
